Disciplinary Literacy in STEM: A Functional Approach

چکیده
This study explores disciplinary literacy instruction integrated within an elementary engineering unit in urban classroom. A multidisciplinary team of university and educators classroom teachers served as the research for this case study. social semiotic language theory (systemic functional linguistics) a framework mechanistic reasoning informed analysis discourse student writing. The illustrates how flexible set choices functioned to support students’ evolving part design process. These findings provide insights into synergy between habit design. also inform calls align science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) core practices both Common Core State Standards (English arts) ELA Next Generation Science Standards.
